Tattoo Aftercare Instructions
Professional Guide by GG Tattoo Budva

Your new fine line or blackwork tattoo is a lifetime investment. Follow these steps for perfect healing and long-lasting results.

Congratulations on your new ink! As a specialist in custom fine line and blackwork tattoos here in Budva, Montenegro, I want your piece to heal flawlessly — especially under the strong Adriatic sun and during tourist activities. Proper aftercare prevents fading, infection, and ensures crisp lines stay sharp for years.
Healing usually takes 4–6 weeks. Fine line tattoos heal faster but are more sensitive to sun and over-moisturizing.

Day 1: Initial Protection & First Wash (Streç Film Phase)
•  Right after your session, your tattoo is wrapped in sterile cling film (streç) for protection.
•  Keep the cling film on for only 1–2 hours (as instructed – do not leave it longer to avoid moisture buildup and potential irritation).
•  After 1–2 hours: Carefully remove the cling film.
•  Immediately wash the tattoo gently with lukewarm water + fragrance-free antibacterial soap (e.g., baby soap or Provon). Pat dry with a clean paper towel (never rub).
•  Apply a thin layer of aftercare ointment (Aquaphor, Bepanthen, or similar) right away. This starts the moist healing process.
•  Mild oozing, redness, and plasma is normal on day 1.
Days 2–7: Early Healing & Moisturizing Phase
•  Wash the tattoo 2–3 times a day with lukewarm water + mild soap.
•  Pat dry gently, then apply a thin layer of ointment/moisturizer immediately after each wash.
•  Keep the area moist but not greasy — too much cream can clog pores and cause ink loss (especially in fine line work).
•  It may start to feel tight or slightly itchy — this is normal as the skin begins to heal.
•  Avoid any soaking: No sea, pool, bath, or long showers directly on the tattoo.
Days 8–14: Peeling & Flaking Phase
•  Continue washing 2–3 times daily and moisturizing with a thin layer after each wash.
•  The tattoo will begin to peel or flake like dry skin/sunburn — DO NOT pick, scratch, or peel it yourself! Let it fall off naturally to protect the fine lines.
•  Fine line tip: During peeling, lines may appear faint or “washed out” temporarily — this is completely normal. Full sharpness and depth return after 3–4 weeks as the skin fully regenerates.
•  Itching peaks here — use a cool compress or light tapping if needed (no scratching!).
Weeks 3–6: Maturation & Color Settling
•  Reduce washing to once a day if the skin feels dry, continue light moisturizing.
•  The tattoo regains its shine, depth, and true color.
•  Full healing (no more sensitivity): 4–6 weeks on average. Fine line and blackwork usually settle faster but remain delicate to sun.
Long-Term Care (After 6 Weeks)
•  Apply SPF 50+ sunscreen daily on exposed areas (Montenegro sun fades fine lines quickly).
•  Moisturize regularly to keep the skin healthy.

Hey, just a reminder:
Budva’s sun and sea are amazing, but your tattoo needs a little patience right now. I’m always here – drop me a message on WhatsApp, send a photo, and we’ll sort it out together. Your tattoo is my pride too. Happy healing!
